Theresa Nist Had the Sweetest Reaction to Ex Gerry Turner’s New Relationship (2025)

Not too long ago, in the fall of 2023, viewers got to see The Golden Bachelor lead Gerry Turner fall in love and get engaged to Theresa Nist on the show. And, just a few months later, they tied the knot in a televised ceremony. But while their spark was bright, the two sadly called it quits three months later. And now, Nist is showing that there’s no bad blood between them.

In a new interview with Us Weekly, Nist showed her support to Turner, who went public with his incurable cancer diagnosis in December 2024, and his new relationship with Lana Sutton.

According to her, Turner reached out to Golden Bachelor runner-upLeslie Fhima and Golden Bachelorette Joan Vassos before his relationship with Sutton went public.

“He brought that up to both of them to say, ‘What should I do?’ And Leslie said, ‘Of course, tell Theresa, she’ll be happy for you,'” Nist said. “And so the next day, he texted me and I said, ‘Can you talk?’”

“He said, ‘I just wanna let you know I met someone,'” Nist recalled. “I said, ‘That’s wonderful. I’m so happy for you.’ He goes, ‘I was afraid to tell you.’ ‘Why would you be afraid? I only want your happiness.'”

She then explained how she thinks everything, including their short-lived marriage, might’ve all happened for a reason. “If this was the way it happened for him to find his person to go on the show, get married, and then find his person this way, then it was meant to be,” she said.

With Nist by his side, Turner soon opened up about his and Sutton’s relationship to the media.

“I am dating someone,” Turner said in the Bachelor Happy Hourpodcast on April 15, per Us Weekly. “I think at this point it’s going well. But I don’t want to say too much and jinx it and I’m trying to respectfully get to a point where there’s an acceptable amount of time from my divorce.”

And, just two days ago, Turner made his relationship Instagram official by posting pictures of them together in a weekend trip to Charleston, South Carolina. “I can’t believe how many people in Charleston recognized us and wished us the best,” Turner wrote in the caption. “A couple memories from our first getaway to Charleston!” Sutton wrote in her post. We’re so happy for them!
